Martin has just returned from Africa after traveling there for months on his Honda. A journey without a pre-fixed route, which took him to beautiful places. Based on tips from new local motorcycle friends, travelers he met on the road or the ever-changing situation in Africa. Which route can you currently travel through Africa? What to do with Ethiopia and Sudan? Martin explains it to you step by step!
Hans and Erica – Best2West
After years of dreaming, planning, and waiting for the pandemic to pass, Hans & Erica started their motorcycle trip from Alaska to Ushuaia… and beyond!
Asphalt and gravel, wild camping and luxury hotels, highs and lows, cold and hot, we've had it all along the way. We covered a journey of almost 60,000 km on our motorcycles in 14 months, 25 countries, 4 continents and many challenges, but surprisingly few motorcycle problems along the way.
During the presentation we want to take the audience with us on how we came to this journey and a small bit of preparation, then take them on our travel adventure through all countries and finally that the 'homecoming ride' became a lot longer than originally planned.
Aad and Marja – A world trip cut into pieces
When you're dreaming of discovering other parts of the world, there are plenty of reasons not to do it... the preparations alone can seem completely overwhelming!
Aad and Marja are here to tell you how you can do it. While having full-time jobs, they were able to explore so many corners of the Earth, one adventure at a time.
Sippie and Klaas Buwalda – Skilpapaise
Some people take a sabbatical to travel for a year, but when traveling is your way of life, a sabbatical means coming home for a bit.
Sippie and Klaas left in October 2017 for an indefinite trip. They are now back in The Netherlands for a bit and will give a presentation at Discover Overland.
They will give you an insight into 5.5 years of traveling, of which 4 years in South America with a 4x4 toyota hilux, looking for beautiful routes, with the occasional (near) crash and a car with 'long covid'. Pictures of lesser-known areas & routes included!
Mia and Max – Wegewagen
Mia and Max decided to go on a big trip EAST on their motorbikes. They started in Hamburg with a Honda Transalp and BMW F650, both from 1999. They made it all the way to Tehran and back again.
They will share their stories about 20.000 km, 13 countries in 6 months, and countless lovely and great people!

Henriette Thiim – For the love of wheels
In 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, Henriette took off on her Honda CRF250L on what was supposed to be a one-year solo ride from North Cape to South Africa and back. But nothing went as planned. She got stuck in Morocco for six months and had to change her route repeatedly as borders closed and rules for entry were constantly changed. The adventure grew, and before she knew it, she had spent 3 years riding her Honda CRF250L 100.000 km on three continents through 45 countries including Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
Henriette talks about camping with elephants, being stuck in the mud in South Africa and the darker moments, and about dealing with Malaria in Tanzania. She also talks about her motivation for traveling alone, dealing with fears, fixing her bike in the middle of nowhere, and why she loves life on the road in foreign countries.
