Joost and Marijke travel by 4x4 since 2009. During previous trips to Chile and Botswana they became infected with the 4x4 virus. Such a car will take you just that little bit further off the beaten track and closer to nature. Initially they bought a Landcruiser HZJ75 that was converted as a camper. With this car they traveled to South America for a 5-month trip.
In 2012, Joost and Marijke exchanged the Landcruiser for a Toyota Hilux with an Exkab camper unit: their 5-star hotel on wheels. In 2016 they traveled to Iran , Armenia and Georgia. These countries have enormously surprised them in a positive way. Everything you hear about Iran in the media can not be reconciled with the hospitality you meet there. Georgia has also positively surprised them: beautiful nature, hospitable people, rugged roads and wonderful wild camping.
Despite their busy jobs, Joost and Marijke manage to travel for a few months every few years. An absolute privilege. This gives them the opportunity to explore countries that they do not really know. Next year they plan a 4-month trip to Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
