Fanette Bossuyt – Adventures and stories of an (inexperienced) solo rider on the other side of the world

Hi, I’m Fanette Cyclette from Eyes & Tyres, a 34 years old chick from France who took one way ticket and went riding motorbikes down under… just to see how different life could be when dreams become real!

NEW-ZEALAND / One day I decided to pack my stuffs in boxes, to quit my job and to say goodbye to my family and my friends. That’s how I left Europe 4 years ago and flew to New Zealand with a vague idea but no plans. I spent a year zigzagging around the two islands on a BMW 650 GS no matter the road and weather conditions, camping in the bushes and breaking some bones while doing my first off-road rides. After 26 000 kilometers and hundreds of amazing discoveries in beautiful landscapes, I took an other plane to go over the ditch… to Australia!

OZ / The 3 months planed became 3 years. Because of the immensity of the country, because of covid, and other reasons like the need of financing the trip or fixing my damaged old Suzuki dr650.
I spent 76 000 kilometers riding across this crazy country… and I’m still not done yet !

I started this journey with no experience, almost no riding skills and zero mechanical knowledge. But mostly no confidence. I was scared but determined to have a go. And I fell off a lot – still does. I cry sometimes and I laugh often. I freak out and don’t give up.

Riding and meeting all those people on the road is the most thrilling experience. Encouraging others to follow their guts and have a go at accomplishing their passion by sharing my own journey is an absolute excitement and joy!
